The Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce

Our Communities

Business & Industry

While tourism related businesses are the primary economic contributor to the Greater Topsail Area, commercial fishing and agriculture play a role as well. Real estate businesses, handling both commercial and residential properties, along with property management, are a major component of the business community in the area.

On the mainland, Holly Ridge is home to a few small businesses and industries. Farther north, in Sneads Ferry, one finds an active fishing community, where commercial fishermen harvest both finfish and shellfish.

On the Island, Surf City is the center of commercial activity. Topsail Beach has a few commercial establishments, while North Topsail Beach offers less in the way of business.

Island businesses include a few small motels, several restaurants, ranging from walk up, "raw bars" by the water, to some of the finer dining experiences found in the region. A number of boutiques and shops offer unique gift ideas, in addition to beach and resort wear.

As visitor interest increases over the region's significant plant and animal wildlife, more and more service and retail facilities are opening to allow visitors the opportunity to explore the areas beyond the beaches.

Although many of the area's businesses are open throughout the year, many cut back their hours seasonally, so it is always a good idea to phone ahead first.
