Chamber Activities
The Chamber is the voice of business, and
represents the business interests of its members at local, state,
regional and national levels. In so doing, the Chamber is closely
allied with the North Carolina Chamber, along with other public and
private sector organizations.
From the tourism perspective, the Chamber represents the Topsail
Area and its membership in travel shows, at local festivals and in
print, broadcast and online media. Business directories and quality
of life guides, as well as brochures and members' displays travel to
each event. The Chamber web site,
www.topsailcoc.com, promotes
the Greater Topsail Area across the World Wide Web as a holiday
destination.
The Chamber promotes economic development, seeking the appropriate
solutions for sustained, responsible growth. The Chamber staff
provides assistance with grand openings and ribbon cutting
ceremonies for its members. The Chamber and Tourism office hosts
various special events to promote its members and the communities we
serve. These events are the cornerstone of quality of life
initiatives, and provide an economic base for our municipalities'
year-round operations.
Among the Chamber's annual events are:
- Surf & Turf Triathlon - part of the N.C.
Triathlon series, this USAT sanctioned super-sprint event features
an ocean swim, and takes place the third weekend in May.
Approximately 300 triathletes come to Topsail to participate.
- Chamber and Tourism Auction - a live and
silent auction that promotes the area's goods and services and
provides resources to support various Chamber programs. The Auction,
the Chamber's largest fundraiser, takes place in June.
- Tasting With Topsail - inaugurated in 2007,
this event celebrates the close of the summer season and introduces
our guests to some of the unique varietals that come from wineries
in our state.
- Holiday Flotilla - a parade of
boats, lighted and decorated for the holidays, cruises
Topsail Sound and kicks off the holiday season. The
event takes places the second Friday following
Thanksgiving.
- Annual Membership Reception - a celebration
of our membership and the year's achievements, the Chamber's annual
membership open house is held annually, and features heavy hors
d'oeuvres and beverages.
