The Chamber is the voice of business, and represents the business interests of its members at local, state, regional and national levels. In so doing, the Chamber is closely allied with the North Carolina Chamber, along with other public and private sector organizations.
From the tourism perspective, the Chamber represents the Topsail Area and its membership in travel shows, at local festivals and in print, broadcast and online media. Business directories and quality of life guides, as well as brochures and members’ displays travel to each event. The Chamber web site, www.topsailcoc.com, promotes the Greater Topsail Area across the World Wide Web as a holiday destination.
The Chamber promotes economic development, seeking the appropriate solutions for sustained, responsible growth. The Chamber staff provides assistance with grand openings and ribbon cutting ceremonies for its members. The Chamber and Tourism office hosts various special events to promote its members and the communities we serve. These events are the cornerstone of quality of life initiatives, and provide an economic base for our municipalities’ year-round operations.
Among the Chamber’s annual events are:
“TAG” Party – inaugurated in 2011, this event takes place the second Saturday in February. TAG stands for Take A Gamble. It is a Mardi Gras theme with food, adult beverages, music and a reverse raffle.
Hops of Spring – inaugurated in 2010, this event celebrates the beginning of summer with an outdoor beer tasting with music and fun. This event is usually tied to a charity. In 2011, we shared proceeds with Hope for the Warriors.
Annual Membership Appreciation Luncheon– usually in October. This is a celebration for our membership where by we show our appreciation with a free Bar-B-Q lunch at Soundside Park in Surf City.
